BST Italia, a subsidiary of BST International GmbH, presents trendsetting innovations and well proven quality assurance systems at Converflex in Milan (hall 3, booth K03/L04).

Highlights on the largest booth in company's history are QCenter, QCenter.Spectral and new developments for web guiding applications. Visitors are also informed about the new BST solutions for production optimization and measurement of flat web materials.

Being a real show stopper on last drupa, the modular QCenter product line including the QCenter.Spectral inline spectral measurement system, the result of the close joined development with X-Rite, set the standards in the production control on running webs. Now it is shown in Italy for the first time.

QCenter is a sophisticated, modular product line for centralized control of numerous features: It integrates functions such as web inspection and 100% inspection on a single platform. Via the intuitive touch screen interface, the operator controls any actions such as color measurement, zooming, selection of image details and monitoring of the entire web width. In addition, QCenter features the one-to-one display of the complete repeat in high resolution HDTV quality.

The inline spectral measurement system QCenter.Spectral provides the solution for the ever growing need of the industry to obtain both reliable inline and offline data on specified colors over the entire print production. Due to the close and exclusive development partnership with X-Rite the results of inline measurement and measurement with stationary handhelds are comparable for the first time. This is the new industrial standard for color quality control and workflow simplification.

Also presented for the first time in Italy is ekr 500 digital, the digital enhancement of the successful web guiding controller ekr 500 Plus. By changeover to digital technology ekr 500 digital provides simpler connectivity and ease of operation. In combination with the newly designed CompactGuide rotating frame guide, the customer gets a Plug & Play system for a broad range of web guiding tasks.

By the recent acquisition of BST ProControl (former Betacontrol and Protagon), BST enlarged the product portfolio by solutions for flat web materials like layer thickness and basis weight measurement. In Milan, visitors are also informed about the production optimization possibilities these solutions offer.

Moreover, the capabilities of well-established products for quality assurance on running webs, like CLS Pro 600 and SUPER HANDYScan 4000 are presented.

Unlike the general trend at this year's drupa show, BST International saw a considerable increase in visitors to its booth: the number of customers and prospects grew by 15% over 2008. BST's Sales Director, Kristian Jünke, was impressed by the depth of discussions: "All major OEMs, brand owners and decision makers seized this opportunity to learn about our innovations and see them live."

From day one of the show, the new QCenter line of inspection products, including the spectral measurement system QCenter.Spectral, was a real show-stopper.

The high performance of the systems was shown in live demonstration sessions. Guests included Tom Vacchiano jr., CEO of X-Rite. QCenter.Spectral is the outcome of a close development partnership between BST and X-Rite. For the first time, the results of inline spectral measurement can be exactly compared to those achieved using handheld of the market leader: minimal deviations with a maximum delta E of less than 1 are now the standard.

To meet the high customer interest in QCenter, one presentation followed another. QCenter is a true modular solution for quality assurance applications: on a platform various modules are integrated according to customers’ individual requirements and controlled centrally. Functions vary from simple web viewing up to complex defect detection and spectral color measurement.

At its largest booth in over thirty years of company history, BST also introduced ekr 500 D as well as the newly designed CompactGuide, both providing innovative web guidance solutions. Simple connectivity options, convenient operation and true plug & play all impressed the visitors.

BST International expects to close numerous deals for the introcuded products. Preliminary negotiations were already held at the show.
