As a rule, material is delivered in rolls for the web processing industry. It is unwound for processing, fed through the production process and rewound at the end of the machine.
During these processes there is often a lateral offset of the web, for example caused by lopsided winding or poorly adjusted rolls.
BST unwind and rewind systems prevent this.

In the unwind system the sensor is fitted on the machine frame and the desired web position is fixed from there.
Movements in web position caused by lopsided unwinding are compensated for by an equivalent lateral displacement of the unwind stand.
Thus the material is accurately fed into the machine.

In the rewind system the sensor is located on the rewind stand and the desired position is fixed from there. The rewind stand is guided to follow the incoming web. As a result, rolls have straight edges.
